Appropriate certification is required of educators providing instruction in adult education classes when school-aged students attending public schools and adult students are enrolled collectively and the class is considered as being part of the public-school curriculum and there is a provision for the awarding of academic credit for the public-school students.
Residents of institutions such as correctional facilities shall be taught by appropriately certificated educators when they are under the age of 21 and not a high school graduate or not holding an equivalency certificate at that level.
Note: This requirement includes contracted educational services when purchased by a public school entity from a Pennsylvania licensed private school.
