The Pennsylvania Vital Statistics Law of 1953 requires that live births that occur in Pennsylvania be reported to the Department of Health within ten days of the date of live birth. Physicians and licensed midwifes attending the birth have a mandatory role in reporting these live births. Other individuals, such as a lay midwife, may also report a live birth if a physician or licensed midwife is not in attendance. This website outlines our requirements for reporting live births that occur in Pennsylvania.
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:
eVitals is now live. All electronic reporting of live births that occur in Pennsylvania should be submitted through eVitals.
