Informational Materials
- "Benefits of a Healthy Sick Balance" brochure explains the importance of a healthy sick leave balance and the future value of sick leave.
- Employee absence trackers: May be used by employees to track absences and quota accruals electronically. The printable versions may be useful to employees who do not have regular access to a computer.
- Leave Service Credit: Leave Service Credit (LSC) includes all periods of service in an active pay status as a commonwealth employee, except classifications deemed not eligible. Reference Appendix J of the Absence Program Manual, M530.7 for job classifications excluded from earning LSC. Employees who have prior commonwealth employment that has not been accounted for in SAP should complete the Employee Prior Service form and return it to their Agency Time Advisor for review and processing. Use the Leave Service Credit Resource Guide in conjunction with the Leave Service Credit Worksheet to verify an employee's LSC is accurate; calculate and employee's correct number of LSCs; and, update SAP if adjustments are necessary
- Leave Payout Calculator: May be used to estimate the amount of an employee’s leave payment at separation. The calculations apply to most employees; however, employees should refer to the applicable collective bargaining agreement for details. Upon a qualifying retirement, an employee may qualify for a sick leave payment.
- Military 5-Year Entitlement Worksheet: May be used to estimate the remainder of an employee’s unpaid military entitlement. The Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) establishes the cumulative length of time that an individual may be absent from work for military duty and retain reemployment rights for up to five years. Exceptions to the five-year limit can be located in MD530.26 Military Leaves of Absence.
