At the OGC, we ensure our attorneys meet their Pennsylvania Continuing Legal Education credit requirements while continuously enhancing their skills to become even better lawyers.

A comprehensive range of year-round complimentary educational programs include:

  • OGC-U, our annual two-day agency wide CLE program;
  • multi-day legal skills training programs on topics like contracting and litigation;

Loan Forgiveness

Most OGC attorneys are eligible to participate in the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program.

By enrolling in PSLF and making consistent monthly payments for 10 years, eligible attorneys can have their remaining student loan debt forgiven, tax-free.

Team Environment

Much of Commonwealth legal work involves collaboration and teamwork. The OGC fosters a cooperative workplace approach that not only enhances the quality of legal analysis but also provides a supportive network for attorneys, making complex cases more manageable and professionally enriching.

Hybrid Remote Work Policy

In line with Commonwealth policy, and at the discretion of the General Counsel, OGC attorneys are required to work in-office three days a week, with flexible scheduling options available in most Chief Counsel Offices.

Job Stability and Work-Life Balance

At the OGC attorneys enjoy a healthier work-life balance that supports their personal goals and needs. The stability of our funding ensures a secure and predictable work environment, allowing OGC attorneys to concentrate on their legal responsibilities without the pressure of economic uncertainties or the need to secure new clients and generate billable hours.

Diverse Practice Areas

OGC Attorneys engage in a wide array of legal fields, including environmental law, public health law, employment law, and more, tailored to the needs of their specific government agencies.

The OGC offers opportunities for attorneys at all levels of experience and with various interests, whether you are a litigator, transactional attorney, regulatory expert, or hearing officer.

Career Advancement

OGC attorneys are not confined to a single agency; we encourage those seeking career advancement to explore professional growth opportunities within the entire OGC enterprise.

Public Service Impact

OGC attorneys play a pivotal role in shaping policies, upholding justice, and enhancing the well-being of Pennsylvania's residents. They are integral to nearly every policy and program decision made by Commonwealth agencies, making them essential to the governance process.
