We offer two support groups:

Creating Resiliency

This virtual support group will use cognitive behavorial techniques, mindfullness, expressive arts, and body-oriented exercises. Each session will include an educational/structured piece along with time for open conversations. 

The goals of this group are:

  • to understand trauma and the impacts on our lives
  • to understand positive coping mechanisms and techniques
  • to promote healing and resiliency

 

This support group is held once a week for 8 weeks. 

 

Resilience and Healing After Gun Violence

This virtual support group is available to anyone who has experienced trauma from gun violence, or the death of a loved one due to gun voilence. The goal of this group is to help members cope with challenges due to their experience and provide them with support and resiliency building tools. 

The goals of this group are:

  • provide a save and supportive environment for survivors of gun violence to come together
  • provide encouragement in developing coping techniques and incorporating self-care into daily life
  • promote Resiliency building skills and support for individual healing

 

This group is held once a week for 8 weeks.

OVA sends a monthly electronic newsletter that includes survivor voices, education on crime victims’ rights, upcoming events, training opportunities and useful tools to help with your self-care. To stay up to date with the latest information, sign up today.

OVA provides a variety of training programs to prepare communities and allied professionals to work and communicate effectively with victims while promoting pathways to hope and healing. 

OVA is available to travel to your county or agency to provide trainings surrounding victims' rights and services, facilitating juvenile restorative conferences, and more.
