The UPC/PLU Inspector Program allows retail stores across the state to inspect their own stores to ensure accuracy in the pricing of products. Business-affiliated inspectors are trained and certified in correct price verification procedures, and can perform inspections in their stores. A person who is at least 18 years of age and has successfully completed an approved training course within two years of the date of application may apply to be certified as a UPC/PLU inspector. The inspector's certificate is valid for three years from the date it is issued. The inspector prepares and submits a price verification form to the Bureau following any inspection the inspector conducts. The bureau maintains oversight of the program, auditing submitted reports, and following up on any concerns noted.
