Technical Advisory Groups
There are four TAGs responsible to the development of new innovations:
- Design
- Construction and Materials
- Maintenance
- Safety and Traffic Operations
Each TAG has a TAG Leader, an Assistant TAG Leader and a standing FHWA member. TAG Members consist of PennDOT employees, FHWA representatives, industry, academia, and other state or federal agency personnel.
What Does a TAG Do?
TAGs are assigned innovations by the STIC Management Team. They are responsible for guiding the innovation through the Innovation Development Process. The TAGs prepare an Innovation Development Summary and Deployment Plan to guide and track the development and deployment of each innovation. The TAGs meet frequently to support the development of the innovations to which they are assigned.
What Are Innovation Owners and Development Teams?
Innovation Owners are assigned to an innovation. They are appointed by the TAG Leaders and the Assistant TAG Leaders. They lead the development teams and help produce the Innovation Development Summary and Deployment Plan form. They present updates on the innovation's progress at STIC business meetings. They also support the innovation once it has been advanced for deployment.
Development teams are created by the TAG Leader and the Innovation Owner for each innovation. The teams work together to guide the innovation through the development process. Membership is fluid and can change based on the needs at any particular point in the process.
How to Get Involved
There are many ways you can get involved with the STIC. TAG Members are selected by the TAG leadership and the STIC Management Team. In addition, development teams need enthusiastic and knowledgeable individuals to drive innovation development. If you are interested in becoming involved, please contact the STIC Management Team at penndotstic@pa.gov with your name, occupation and company, or area of expertise.
