Route 51 Single-Lane Restriction Begins Tomorrow in Westmoreland County

Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing that a single-lane restriction on southbound Route 51 is scheduled to begin tomorrow, Thursday, November 9, in Rostraver Township, Westmoreland County.

The southbound Route 51 single-lane restriction will be in place between Concord Lane and the Route 981 intersection through Wednesday, November 22, depending on weather and operations, as part of the traffic control phasing for the Interstate 70 at Route 51 Improvement Project.

Exercise caution, remain alert, and follow the posted signs and speed limits. Safety is everyone's responsibility.

Crews from Golden Triangle Construction Company are implementing the adjustment as part of the $120.6 million project for the widening and reconstruction of the I-70/Route 51 Interchange (Exit 46) and replacing it with a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI). The project also involves several intersecting roadways including the relocation of Finley Road and Route 981. Construction is anticipated to be complete in October 2027.
