Project Overview
The aim of this project is to improve safety and the roadway surface at six railroad track crossings at several locations in Oil City, Venango County. It includes the crossings at Duncomb Street, North Seneca Street, Center Street, Sycamore Street, Union Street, and Elm Street.
The project will include the installation of new warning devices at the at-grade railroad crossings Duncomb Street, North Seneca Street, Center Street, Sycamore Street, Union Street, and Elm Street. Additionally, there will be roadway improvements made at Center and Elm streets.
Work is expected to occur in 2024 construction season.
The work and traffic control will be done by the Western New York and Pennsylvania Railroad.
Traffic Impacts
Detour will be required during construction and is expected to be in place for approximately for one week at each location. Motorists may also encounter traffic controlled by flaggers.
Due to the nature of the work at this crossing, the project will cause a temporary impact on a Section 4(f) recreational resource. It will be necessary to close this portion of the McClintock Trail while work is being done. Once work is completed, the trail will be reopened, and any damaged portions of the trail will be repaired.
