Project Overview
County: Pike
Municipality: Greene Township
Project Type: Structure Replacement
Start: Late 2024
End: Summer 2026
Last Updated: April 16, 2024
The Route 390 Section D50 Bridge Replacement over an Unnamed Tributary to Lower Lake is located entirely within the Promised Land State Park, immediately downstream of the Promised Land Lake Dam. The project site is approximately 3.3 miles south of the Route 390 interchange with Interstate 84.
The purpose of this project is to provide a sustainable crossing for Route 390 (Promised Land Road) over the Unnamed Tributary to Lower Lake. The project will consist of the replacement of the existing structure over the Unnamed Tributary to Lower Lake, roadway reconstruction, guide rail replacement, embankment stabilization, and signing and pavement marking upgrades. The proposed structure will be widened to accommodate two 12' lanes with 8' shoulders per design standards. The proposed structure will be a precast concrete arch culvert that has a span of 30 ft. and will be approximately 86 ft. along the stream. The arch will have a stone patterned architectural treatment and concrete stain finish to match other structure within Promised Land State Park.
Traffic Control
Traffic will be maintained through the project area with a signalized, single-lane temporary roadway and bridge. A temporary bridge will be installed to carry the temporary road over the Unnamed Tributary to Lower Lake.
Access points to a boat rental area, a pedestrian trail over the dam, seasonal cabins, a children's playground and Falls Pavilion are located within the project area and are open to the public for recreation such as camping, boating and hiking. These properties are Section 4(f) properties under the jurisdiction of the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR). Easements are required to complete the bridge and roadway work and access to these properties will be maintained throughout construction. They will continue to function for their designated purposes.
