Project Overview
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announces a Plans Display for a project to replace the State Route 1011 (Brockton Mountain Drive) bridge over Locust Creek in Ryan Township, Schuylkill County.
This online plans display includes digital display boards and an online comment form that are available to the public until June 23, 2023.
The proposed project will replace the existing 32’ long single span reinforced concrete T-Beam bridge that was constructed in 1924. The existing curb-to-curb width is 20’-5” and carries two lanes. The existing structure is in poor condition.
The proposed replacement is a 66’ long single span prestressed concrete spread box beam bridge on integral abutments. The proposed curb-to-curb width is 28’ with two 11’ lanes and two 3’ shoulders. Associated construction work consists of minimal approach reconstruction and resurfacing, guide rail, and signing/pavement marking upgrades.
The roadway is posted for 30 mph and has a design year average daily traffic volume of 434 vehicles.
During construction traffic will be detoured. The 17.2 mile detour will utilize US 209, Catawissa Street/Tuscarora Mountain Drive, PA 54, Morea Road, and Burma Road.
The project is currently in design and construction work is currently anticipated to take place in the 2025 construction season. However, this schedule is tentative and subject to change.
The purpose of the plans display is to update the public on the status of the project. The online plans display includes digital picture boards.
It is also an opportunity for the public to review and comment on the project's potential effect upon cultural resources pursuant to the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation's 36 CFR Part 800 regulations implementing Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.
