Project Overview

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), announces a Plans Display for the State Route 2006 (Raubsville Road) Bridge over an unnamed tributary to Fry’s Run. This bridge replacement project is in Williams Township, Northampton County.

This online plans display includes digital picture boards and an online comment form is available to the public from January 24, 2022 to February 23, 2022.

The purpose of this project is to address structural deficiencies of this bridge which was constructed in 1896 and provide continued safe and efficient access on Raubsville Road.

The project consists of replacing the existing two-span stone masonry arch bridge, reconstructing the pavement along the roadway tie-ins of the new concrete arch structure, and replacing guide rail.

The bridge is expected to be closed for approximatley 8 months during construction (Spring 2024 to Fall 2024). The anticipated detour is 5.4 miles and utilizes Raubsville Road, Hexenkopf Road and Morgan Hill Road.

The project is currently in design and construction work is estimated to take place in the 2024 construction season. However, this schedule is tentative and may change.

In accordance with Governor Wolf's COVID-19 mitigation efforts this plans display will be held online only.

The purpose of the plans display is to introduce the project and receive public input regarding any questions or concerns with the project. It is also an opportunity for the public to review and comment on the project’s potential effect upon cultural resources pursuant to the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation’s 36 CFR Part 800 regulations implementing Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.

The project documents can be made available in alternative languages or formats if requested.
