Project Overview
County: Bucks
Municipality: Bensalem Township
State Route: 2002
Local Name: State Road
Project Type: Drainage Improvements
This project involves drainage and roadway improvements to a 0.5-mile section of State Road (SR 2002) in Bensalem Township, Bucks County. The project limits start approximately 500 feet west of American Avenue and extend to the intersection with Street Road (SR 2007).
State Road currently experiences flooding issues during moderate and heavy rain events just west of the intersection with Street Road. The road is low-lying in this area, there is a lack of existing drainage infrastructure, and there is a pond on the north side of State Road with an undersized discharge pipe to the Delaware River. All these conditions contribute to the flooding problems. This project includes drainage and stormwater management improvements to address the flooding issues on State Road. The project also includes the following roadway and bridge improvements:
- Widen State Road to provide a center left-turn lane to match the proposed roadway cross section at the western limit to be constructed under a developer-sponsored project.
- Replace the existing bridge over the unnamed tributary to the Delaware River located just east of American Avenue.
