PennDOT's comprehensive, multi-phase U.S. 422 Improvement Program spans more than 20 miles from U.S. 202 in King of Prussia to the Montgomery County/Berks County line.  

Since 2012, PennDOT has completed six major projects and invested $263.4 million to reconstruct and improve the U.S. 422 corridor in Montgomery and Chester counties. 

Two new U.S. 422 projects will move into construction in 2023, including Section MCP, which is located in Upper Providence and Lower Providence townships, Montgomery County, and Section M1B, which is located in Lower Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County.

​Construction will begin in August 2023 on a $6.8 million project (Section MCP) to repair pavement and perform accelerated concrete patching on a four-mile section of eastbound U.S. 422 from just east of Route 29 (Collegeville Road) to just east of the Pawlings Road overpass in Upper Providence and Lower Providence townships, Montgomery County.

Construction will begin in winter 2023 on an estimated $80 million project to reconstruct and improve a 1.9-mile section of eastbound and westbound U.S. 422 (Section M1B) from just west of Porter Road to Evergreen Road where the ramp tapers at the Sanatoga Interchange in Lower Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County.

​The U.S. 422 Section M2B project involves the total reconstruction of 1.5 miles of limited access expressway on mostly existing alignment. U.S. 422 will be reconstructed with a 9-foot left shoulder, two 12-foot lanes, and a 12-foot right shoulder in each direction of travel. A concrete median barrier will be constructed to separate eastbound and westbound traffic. The western work limit is approximately 850 feet east of the Schuylkill River Bridge between Stowe and Route 100 (Pottstown Pike) Interchanges.  Full-depth reconstruction will match the adjacent project limit of the U.S. 422 Section M2A project. The eastern limit of work is approximately 2,370 feet west of the Keim Street overpass. Section M2B also includes median reconstruction beyond the limits of full-depth reconstruction at the eastern limit.
