The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is currently performing preliminary engineering and environmental studies for a planned project to provide roadway improvements to SR 2005 (Camp Betty Washington Road).  This roadway connects Springwood Road to PA 124 (Mount Rose Avenue) and is located in York and Springettsbury Townships in York County.

The purpose of the project is to provide a safer roadway corridor for the traveling public and replace two structures that are considered structurally obsolete.

The project scope includes approximately 3 miles of roadway widening, overlay, and safety improvements on SR 2005 (Camp Betty Washington Road and Haines Road) from the SR 2002 (Springwood Road) intersection to approximately 1500' south of the SR 0124 (Mount Rose Avenue) intersection.

Additional improvements along SR 2005 include:

  • Replacement of the bridges over Mill Creek and an Unnamed Tributary of Mill Creek
  • The addition of an unsignalized northbound left turn lane at Chestnut Hill Road
  • Drainage, guide rail, signing, and pavement marking upgrades
  • Removal of rock outcrops, stone walls, vegetation, or other hazardous features along the corridor

The project, once more fully developed, would be anticipated to be bid sometime in the Fall of 2025, subject to all approvals, environmental clearances, and funding availability.
