The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites the public to an online plan display regarding the SR 1015 (Juniata Parkway East) bridge replacement project. This project is located over a Tributary to the Juniata River in Howe Township, Perry County, at the intersection of SR 1017 (Shortcut Road) and SR 1015.
The purpose of this project is to address structural deficiencies of the bridge and provide continued safe and efficient crossing of SR 1015, Section 020 over the Tributary to the Juniata River.
The project consists of replacing of existing structure concrete slab bridge with a precast concrete box culvert, along with roadway improvements to the shoulders and the installation of guide rail. The new culvert with be placed in the same location as the existing structure and will allow for two 11-foot travel lanes and two 4-foot shoulders.
The bridge will be closed for approximately four months to all traffic during the construction. The proposed detour route will use SR 1017 (Shortcut Road) to SR 34 (Red Hill Road).
The project is currently in design and construction work is anticipated to take place in the 2027 construction season.
