Mexican Conflicts
Mexican War Records
Pennsylvania sent only two regiments of soldiers to serve in the Mexican War (1st and 2nd Pennsylvania Volunteers). The State Archives holds a few records of these men, primarily arranged by regiment and company. The records provide little genealogical information. As the first step in determining whether an ancestor served in the Mexican War, 1846-1848, family historians should check the alphabetical listing contained in the Pennsylvania Archives, Sixth Series, Volume 10. Original materials include these files:
- Mexican War Service Index, 1846-1848 (Record Group 19, digitized roll 492)
- Mexican War Accounts and Related Papers, 1846-1880 (Record Group 2, digitized rolls 29-34)
- General Correspondence of the Adjutant General, 1793-1935 (Record Group 19)
- Pennsylvania Archives, Sixth Series, Volume 10 (digitized roll 3575)
Mexican Border Campaign Records
- Mexican Border Campaign Veterans' Card File, 1916-1917 (Record Group 19) (digitized rolls 4082-4089)
