When changing Pennsylvania public school employers, you do not need to do anything to your PSERS account. There is no need to contact PSERS. Your previous employer will report to PSERS that you are no longer employed by them. Your new employer will begin to report your wages, service and contributions to PSERS.
If you work full-time with one Pennsylvania public school employer and part-time with another, your part-time employer must report your wages, service and contributions to PSERS.
When changing from Pennsylvania public school employment to State employment (participating with the State Employees’ Retirement System (SERS)) you may be eligible for multiple service membership.
