Professional Standards and Practices Commission

About the Commission

The Commission is committed to improving the quality of education in Pennsylvania by providing leadership in the area of preparation, certification and standards of conduct for teachers. The Commission actualizes its mission through the promotion and enforcement of Pennsylvania's Code of Professional Practice and Conduct for Educators, through its educational outreach programs to the educational community, through its advocacy with the Department of Education and the State Board of Education, and finally, through its oversight and enforcement of the educator discipline system.

The creation of this website reflects the Commission's ongoing efforts to achieve our mission. Through increased access to the Commission's outreach programs, to the mechanics of the educator discipline system, and to the opinions issued by the Commission, we hope to inform teachers, administrators, school boards, and the community at large of the expectations and obligations related to their respective roles within the education system. Understanding these responsibilities is central to ensuring that student learning and safety is enhanced

Bringing Items Before the Commission
