Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission Housing Equality Conference will take place this month in Philadelphia

Harrisburg, PA- The Pennsylvania Relations Commission (PHRC) will host the 2023 Housing Equality Conference: Putting the ACT in Fair Housing from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 21 at the Weitzman National Jewish American Museum, 101 South Independence Mall, East Philadelphia, Pa 19106.

The keynote speaker, Fred Bañuelos, Community Investment Business Development Manager with FHLBank Pittsburgh, has dedicated his career to affordable housing. Prior to joining FHLBank in 2018, Bañuelos worked for the Harrisburg Housing Authority, where he managed operations for the Housing Choice Voucher Program, Public Housing Program, and Capital Improvement Program. Prior to that, he was Deputy Director for the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development and Executive Director of the Alliance for Building Communities, a non-profit affordable housing development corporation.

"This free in-person conference event will provide the opportunity to network, share ideas, and work towards improving housing opportunities for Pennsylvanians," said PHRC Fair Housing and Commercial Property Director Adrian Garcia. "Our goal with this conference is to explore ways in which housing providers, government entities, and community benefit organizations can remove barriers that limit access to opportunities for fair, safe, affordable housing free from discrimination across the commonwealth. Registration will close soon, so register today!"

"As the state's top civil rights enforcement agency, PHRC plays a key role in ensuring housing justice and opportunities for citizens of the Commonwealth," said Chad Dion Lassiter, MSW, Executive Director of the PHRC. "Our formidable fair housing division is creating new partnerships with like-minded housing agencies, advocates, and associations across the state. We are proud to be in this space with them, working to eradicate housing discrimination. We encourage anyone with an interest in affirmatively furthering fair housing to attend this year's conference."
