The federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) establishes a free appropriate public education for all students with disabilities, in the least restrictive environment, and was last reauthorized in 2004. 

PDE provides technical assistance and training through the Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network (PaTTAN) and Intermediate Units regarding IDEA requirements for a variety of stakeholders.
