Dale Simpson

Dale Simpson serves as the Special Advisor to the Executive Deputy Secretary at the Department of Revenue. With a career spanning over three decades within the department, Simpson has accumulated extensive experience and demonstrated a steadfast commitment to public service.

Simpson's journey in public service began in 1993 when he joined the Department of Revenue as a Tax Account Collections Technician. Over the years, he advanced through various roles, demonstrating his expertise and leadership capabilities. During his career, he has served as a Tax Account Collections Supervisor, District Administrator, Collections and Enforcement Coordinator, and Area Operations Director for the Western and Central Regions.

In July 2019, Simpson was promoted to Director of the Bureau of Enforcement and Taxpayer Assistance. In this capacity, he oversaw critical operations and played a key role in ensuring compliance and aiding taxpayers across Pennsylvania. His success in this role led to his appointment in September 2020 as Deputy Secretary for Compliance and Collections, a position that allowed him to effectively lead efforts in managing compliance and collections. In February 2023, he was appointed to his current position as Special Advisor to the Executive Deputy Secretary.

Simpson's academic background includes studying Business Administration at the University of Pittsburgh, and Economics at Washington & Jefferson College. His educational foundation has been instrumental in his analytical and strategic approach to tax administration and enforcement.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Simpson is a dedicated family man. He resides in Monessen, Pa., with his wife and two adult children.

Simpson's long-standing service and significant contributions to the Department of Revenue underscore his dedication to public service and his vital role in the department's mission of fairly, efficiently, and accurately administering the Commonwealth's tax laws and revenue programs.​
