Coordinator Resources

Agency SECA coordinators are essential to a successful fundraising campaign. You can find everything you need here to run an exciting and successful campaign and represent SECA.

Envelope Tracking and Reporting

SECA coordinators should record the submission of pledge envelopes through the Envelope Tracking site.

Spread the Word

There are a number of ways for you to inform your co-workers about the SECA campaign. For example, send an email and link to this year's SECA videos. Put up SECA posters in your workspace. Encourage the head of your agency to send a letter to all of your agency's employees. Here are sample items for your use:

Organize an Event

If you'd really like to engage your co-workers and motivate them to make a pledge, why not host a fundraising event to educate employees about SECA and raise funds at the same time? Check out "Ideas for Agencies"for inspiration!

Give a Hand

Your agency's employees may need some help submitting their pledges.

  • SECA Talking Points (DOC): Talking points can help you explain the various aspects of the SECA campaign, including the benefits of pledging online and What $26 Can Do (PDF) for someone in need.
  • Online Pledge Instructions (PDF): Make sure you are familiar with the instructions for pledging online.
  • Printable Pledge Form (PDF): For employees who do not use employee self service or would like to give via a check or money order, a printable pledge form is available.
  • Participating Charities: Use the Participating Charities guide to look up the codes for participating charities.
  • Leadership Giving: Commonwealth employees can stand out by becoming leadership givers who donate the equivalent of a half hour or hour of their pay per month.
  • SECA Supporter Printout (PDF): A great way to recognize employees who pledge!
  • Pledge Form (mail merge version) (DOC) and Mail Merge Instructions (DOC): For agencies that have the need to do so, there is also a mail merge enabled version of the pledge form and instructions on how to use it.

FAQs

Charities that are listed in the Participating Charities (PDF) are those charitable organizations that have applied, and been approved, for participation in the SECA campaign. If an employee asks to give to a charity that is not listed, they can be encouraged to find another charity that supports the same cause.

No. While over 1,000 participating charities represents a highly diverse number of causes, not every charity will apply to participate in SECA, and some of the charities that apply do not meet the commonwealth's criteria for participation. Giving through SECA to organizations outside the Participating Charities (PDF) is not administratively feasible and would circumvent the admissions process, which is designed to protect both the integrity of the campaign and employee donations. If the charity of choice is not participating in SECA, the employee may want to give outside the SECA campaign.

A charity wishing to apply for participation would have to meet the criteria of an umbrella organization, a fund, a constituent agency, or a member agency. Constituent and member agencies would need to contact an umbrella organization to arrange becoming a member or constituent under the umbrella. An explanation of the process for application and the requirements of participating charities can be found in Management Directive 530.23 - State Employees Combined Appeal. The management directive also includes an application as an enclosure.

Charities interested in applying to participate in SECA may contact ra-seca@pa.gov or 717-787-9872.

Agency designation codes are listed next to the charity in the Resource Guide (PDF). Pledging online automatically fills in the designation code for a donor when a charity is selected from the search feature built into ESS.
