The Office of Commonwealth Libraries collects, edits and disseminates statistical information on public libraries in the state. This information is shared with the Institute of Museum and Library Services and is part of a national effort to collect library data.

- National Center for Education Statistics - Library Statistics Program: The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) began a nation-wide library statistics program in 1989. As of October 1, 2007, the Public Library Survey was moved to the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).
- Institute of Museum and Library Statistics: The Public Libraries Survey and the State Library Agencies Survey have been done by IMLS since October 2007, and IMLS now distributes information about those surveys going back to 1989.

- Library Statistics Program - Academic Libraries: The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) collects data biennially from about 3,700 degree-granting postsecondary institutions in order to provide an overview of academic libraries nationwide and by state.
- Common Core of Data (CCD): The Common Core of Data (CCD) is a program of the U.S. Department of Education's National Center for Education Statistics that annually collects fiscal and non-fiscal data about all public schools, public school districts and state education agencies in the United States.
- Schools and Staffing Survey (SASS): The SASS survey system collects data on teacher demand and shortage, teacher and administrator characteristics, school programs, and general conditions in schools.
- State Library Administrative Agency Survey: The State Library Agencies survey (SLAA) provides descriptive information about state library agencies collected from the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
