The Bureau of Inspections and Financial Integrity (BIFI) collaborates with Commonwealth executive agencies to identify and evaluate high-risk grants, contracts, and procurements for the purpose of mitigating risk within taxpayer-funded programs. 

Special Investigator 1

Job Description

Special Investigators are responsible for assessing the appropriate use of government resources and questionable costs, procurements, grants, and other financial arrangements undertaken by executive agencies. Work generally consists of financial analysis, examination, and reconciliation of business records; communication with relevant stakeholders; physical inventories and site inspections; maintenance of inspection files; and preparation of inspection documents, reports, and presentations. Investigators also assist in trainings to help prevent misconduct and noncompliance. 

Minimum Experience and Training

  • A bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or a related field; or
  • Four years of experience conducting criminal, civil, or administrative investigations; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying  degree 

Special Requirements

  • All positions require possession of an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
  • All employees must obtain CLEAN/NCIC certification within two months of employment and maintain this certification for the duration of employment in this job.
  • Must attend and successfully complete the Commonwealth Investigator Training Program (CITP) within one year of employment.
