Step 2: Stay Aware
Emergencies can, and often do, happen at a moment's notice. That's why it's important to have reliable ways to know what's going on around us.
Emergency management pros suggest having at least two ways to get alerts. These can include:
- Pennsylvania weather and emergency alerts through Code Red
- Weather apps
- Reliable sources on social media, like the National Weather Service
- Radio
- NOAA Weather Radio
Step 3: Monitor
If you get an emergency alert, stay aware. Keep up with guidance from local officials, continue to check forecasts, and potentially change plans if it's what you must do to stay safe.
Pennsylvania has a live map where you can check hazard updates and current road conditions any time.
