Since 1895, the men and women of the Pennsylvania Capitol Police have performed their duties to ensure the safety and well-being of the thousands of individuals who work in, and visit, state government buildings and properties on a daily basis.​

As the nation's second-oldest state police organization, the Pennsylvania Capitol Police have established and solidified a reputation built on tradition, honor, commitment, integrity, respect and protecting the citizens of the Commonwealth. ​

The Pennsylvania Capitol Police is an internationally and domestically accredited law enforcement agency with full arrest powers that investigates all reported crimes within its jurisdiction of state-owned buildings and properties in Harrisburg and Scranton. The force maintains a 24-hour a day/7 days a week presence in Harrisburg, where they also provide assistance to the city of Harrisburg Police Department and other surrounding local law enforcement agencies.
