Wildlife abounds at Big Elk Creek State Park! Birdwatching is an extremely popular activity, and Big Elk Creek State Park falls along the Atlantic Flyway, meaning different seasons bring different species for viewing. Bald Eagles are residents of the park, as well as osprey, hawks, and songbirds.

Mammal species thrive, including white-tailed deer, minks, and coyotes, and the park is home to reptiles like snapping turtles and snakes, and amphibians like frogs, toads, and salamanders.

There are no elk present at Big Elk Creek State Park.
