The proposed project includes repairs to the existing bridge that carries Blacktown Road (Route 2006) over Interstate 79 in Springfield Township, Mercer County.
Work will involve removing the existing pavement from the deck of the bridge and installing new concrete. Additional work will include repairing the concrete beams, piers, and abutments, as well as new guiderail and paving on each side of the bridge.
No major change in roadway grade anticipated. No utility involvement anticipated. No right-of-way acquisition anticipated.
The existing bridge was built in 1963 and rehabilitated in 2007. It is rated in poor condition. Approximately 700 vehicles a day use the bridge, on average.
Project Location
The bridge is located on Blacktown Road (Route 2006) approximately ½ mile east from the intersection with Route 258.
Traffic Impacts
A detour will be required during construction and is expected to be in place for approximately two to three months.
The proposed 5.7-mile detour will be posted using Route 208 and Route 258.

The public comment period, where the community is encouraged to respond with questions and concerns will be from January 6, 2025 through January 20, 2025.
