Project Overview

County: Crawford
Municipality: Rockdale Township
State Route: 408
Local Name: Route 408 over Mohawk Run
Project Type: Bridge Replacement
Proposed Construction Start: 2026
Proposed Construction End: 2026
Last Updated: 03/07/2025

The proposed scope of work includes a bridge replacement of the existing structure that carries Route 408 over Mohawk Run in Rockdale Township, Crawford County.

The existing concrete bridge was built in 1930. It is rated in poor condition. Approximately 1,200 vehicles a day us the bridge, on average.

Work will involve replacing the concrete T-beam bridge with a reinforced concrete box culvert and minimal paving of each side of the bridge. No major change in roadway grade anticipated, which will include shoulder backup. The existing pavement will be milled and overlaid to tie into the proposed structure. Right-of-way acquisition is anticipated at the structure.

The estimated construction cost is estimated between $1 to $2.5 million and will be funded federally. This project is funded at least in part by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL).

Project Location

The bridge is located on Route 408 approximately 750 feet east from the intersection of Route 408 and Greytown Hills Road (Route 1031).
