The Oakland Avenue Project on Route 286/US 422 Interchange East will ease congestion and improve pedestrian and cyclist safety through the Route 286 corridor. 

The Project will also add additional vehicle capacity and improve ease of access to the Southtowne Plaza, Delaney Auto, Windy Ridge Business Park, the New State Police Barracks, and others along Route 286 to the US 422/Route 286 Interchange.

The project will include widening Route 286, intersection improvements, signal upgrades, and guide rail, signing, pavement marking, and safety feature updates. Drainage and stormwater facilities will be added as required and the project will also include a box culvert replacement. Utility work will begin in January 2020. This multi-year highway reconstruction and bridge replacement project and is anticipated to be completed in December 2023.
