An inspection of the bridge found advanced deterioration in late 2022 and was immediately closed to traffic until a temporary structure could be installed in early 2023. Additional work on this $1.9 million bridge replacement project will include milling and paving of the approach roadway, drainage improvements, guide rail updates, and pavement marking installation. The project is expected to conclude in the spring of 2026.
The prime contractor is Pugliano Construction Company, Inc.

03/24/2025 REMINDER: Route 978 Millers Run Road Bridge Replacement Starts Tomorrow in South Fayette Township The replacement work on the Millers Run Road (Route 978) structure over Dolphin Run in South Fayette Township, Allegheny County will begin tomorrow, Tuesday, March 25 weather permitting. Beginning at approximately 7 a.m. Tuesday, bridge replacement work will begin on Millers Run Road between Mohawk Road and Battle Ridge Road (Route 978). To allow this work to occur, Millers Run Road will close at the bridge location continuously through mid-August. All traffic will be detoured.
