District 6 Projects - Bucks County

U.S. 202 & Route 611 (Doylestown Bypass) Rehabilitation

Project Overview

County: Bucks
Municipality: Doylestown Borough; Doylestown and Plumstead Townships
State Route: U.S. 202, Route 611
Local Name: Doylestown Bypass
Project Type: Concrete Pavement Rehabilitation
Last Updated: April 2025

The US 202 and PA 611 bypasses of Doylestown were built in the early 1970s. Over the years, the concrete road surface and bridges have deteriorated and need rehabilitation.

The proposed work includes rehabilitation of the concrete road surface and an asphalt overlay of the road. The shoulders will be reconstructed, and the bridges and overpasses along the project will also be rehabilitated. The existing guiderail will be upgraded to meet current standards along with signing and pavement markings. Minor drainage improvements will also be made along with slope stabilization. The ramps on the interchanges will be rehabilitated as well, and one of the ramps at the cloverleaf interchange between US 202 and PA 611 will be reconstructed due to severe deterioration.

Due to the volume of traffic and the importance of the bypasses, construction staging will be developed to accommodate traffic flow and maintain access to the exit and entrance ramps.
