PennDOT’s comprehensive, multi-phase U.S. 202 Section 600 Improvement Program spans over 9 miles through Norristown Borough and East Norriton, Whitpain Lower Gwynedd, Upper Gwynedd, and Montgomery Townships in Montgomery County.
In 2012 PennDOT completed the $25M U.S. 202 Section 65N Project from Hancock Road to Route 309 and the $2.5M Evans Road (Route 2016) Section OFF project to improve multiple intersections on Evans Road.
In 2019 PennDOT completed the $4.5M Township Line Road (Route 3001) Section OFF project to improve the North Wales Road and Arch Road intersections on Township Line Road.
In 2023 PennDOT substantially completed the $45M U.S. 202, Section 65S project to widen the U.S. 202 mainline from Morris Road to Hancock Road.
The $56M U.S. 202 Section 61N project in Whitpain Township, Montgomery County, and the $55M U.S. 202 Section 61S project in East Norriton Township, Montgomery County are currently under construction.
U.S. 202 Section 61S
The U.S. 202 Section 61S project will widen and improve 1.8 miles of U.S. 202 (DeKalb Pike) from south of Johnson Highway at the Norristown Municipality /East Norriton Township dividing line to Township Line Road at the East Norriton Township/Whitpain Township dividing line.
U.S. 202 Section 61N
The U.S. 202 Section 61N project will widen and improve 2.8 miles of U.S. 202 (DeKalb Pike) from Township Line Road to just south of Morris Road in Whitpain Township, as well as the widening and reconstruction of Route 73 from Whitney Drive to Center Square Fire Company.
