The U.S. 202 Section 61N project will widen and improve 2.8 miles of U.S. 202 (DeKalb Pike) from Township Line Road to just south of Morris Road in Whitpain Township, as well as the widening and reconstruction of Route 73 from Whitney Drive to Center Square Fire Company.
PennDOT is reconstructing and widening U.S. 202 from two lanes to five lanes with a center turn lane, installing five-foot bicycle lanes in both directions along the entire project area, and building new sidewalks at various locations along the corridor.
The project will reconstruct five precast concrete box culverts, two retaining walls, and one sound wall, as well as install new traffic signals, traffic cameras, and dynamic message signs. The project also involves considerable aerial and underground utility relocations and installations on U.S. 202 and Route 73.
