Antlerless Deer License Overview
NEW FOR 2024-2025
- Monday, June 24, 2024: Resident antlerless license sales open for WMUs 1B, 2G, and 3A only on a first come, first served basis until sold out.
- Thursday, June 27, 2024: Resident antlerless license sales open for all remaining WMUs. Resident licenses are guaranteed for these WMUs in the first round only through July 7, 2024.
Act 148 of 2022, allows the Pennsylvania Game Commission to modernize and simplify how antlerless deer licenses are sold.
- The new antlerless license purchasing process allows hunters to purchase antlerless licenses online at HuntFishPA or at any in-store hunting license issuing agent.
- New antlerless deer license changes were announced at the Pennsylvania Board of Game Commissioners meeting on April 12, 2024.
- Please ensure your contact information is correct in your online account at HuntFishPA. The agency will be mailing all hunting license buyers a post card with information related to the new process.
- All new hunters should create their user account on HuntFishPA prior to June 24 to streamline sales.
- Resident antlerless deer licenses cost $6.97 and nonresident antlerless deer licenses cost $26.97.
Important Antlerless Deer License Dates:
- Antlerless licenses for WMUs 1B, 2G, and 3A only will go on sale Monday, June 24, 2024, for residents on a first come, first served basis. Antlerless licenses for all remaining WMUs will be guaranteed for residents from Thursday, June 27-Sunday, July 7, 2024. Remaining antlerless licenses will be available to nonresidents on a first come, first served basis on Monday, July 8, 2024. One antlerless deer license can be purchased per round in the first three rounds.
- A second round will begin Monday, July 22, 2024. Residents and nonresidents are eligible.
- A third round will begin Monday, August 12. The sale of Deer Management Assistance Program (DMAP) permits also will begin on this date.
- Then, in the fourth round beginning Monday, August 26, 2024, a hunter can buy additional licenses until reaching their personal limit of six.
- The 2024-25 deer season starts September 21, 2024, and ends January 25, 2025.
- The exception for the beginning of the sales period is for landowner antlerless deer license buyers. Resident and nonresident landowner antlerless deer licenses will be available at participating county treasurer locations only.

PGC Issuing Agents
Antlerless Deer Licenses can be purchased at PGC agent locations. Review what agents can issue at their location and find an agent near you.
Antlerless Deer Licenses can be purchased at: HuntFishPA and all PGC issuing agents with exceptions.
- Resident and Nonresident Landowner Antlerless Deer Licenses can only be purchased at County Treasurer Offices.
- Resident DV and Armed Forces Antlerless Deer Licenses can only be purchased at PGC Offices, and County Treasurer Offices.
Armed Forces and Disabled Veteran Deer Licenses
These antlerless deer license types are guaranteed licenses. A qualified hunter that meets the below requirements can purchase the license in any round. If the WMU is sold out at the time of purchase, the Armed Forces and Disabled Veteran Antlerless Deer licenses are guaranteed to be issued the WMU of choice. Only one of the guaranteed licenses can be purchased by a hunter per deployment per license year.
Cost $6.97
Must be a bona fide resident of Pennsylvania;
One guaranteed antlerless deer license per license year, if qualified;
Available to any hunter with proof of military status, as required;
Must be full-time, Active Duty in U.S. Armed Forces or U.S. Coast Guard; OR
Within sixty (60) days of their honorable discharge (from federal active duty);
In lieu of the standard documentation described, military personnel may produce the following items together:
An expired Driver's License; and
A valid military identification card; and,
Official Orders or Discharge papers documenting valid service time frame of active-duty service;
Applicants are not required to be stationed outside of Pennsylvania;
Immediate family members of qualified applicants are not eligible;
Applicants serving in the Reserves or National Guard are not eligible for this license (unless called to serve in Federal full-time active duty – Title 10);
Hunter can hold any general hunting license (military license not required);
May apply at any PGC Office or any participating County Treasurer office.
Cost $6.97
Must be a bona fide resident of Pennsylvania;
One guaranteed antlerless deer license per license year, if qualified;
Can be issued at any time during the license year before end of season;
Available to eligible war veterans as described below;
The term "War" as used in Section 2706 of the Pennsylvania Game and Wildlife Code:
- Includes both declared and undeclared wars;
- Disabled Veterans receive benefits from the federal government.
Eligible war/armed conflicts:
World War I veterans who served from April 6, 1917 to November 11, 1918;
World War II veterans who served from December 7, 1941 to December 31, 1946;
Korean conflict veterans who served from June 27, 1950 to January 31, 1955;
Vietnam Era veterans who served:
- Outside Vietnam from August 5, 1964 to May 7, 1975.
- Inside Vietnam from November 1, 1955 to May 7, 1975.
Persian Gulf War veterans who served from August 2, 1990 a future date to be set by presidential proclamation;
Veterans Administration regulations (in short):
Total disability ratings for compensation may be assigned where the injury rating is less than total;
When the disabled veteran is unable to secure or follow a gainful occupation as a result of service-connected disabilities;
Veterans will have documentation that he or she is receiving at least 60% disability rating;
A Veteran's Administration form letter may be obtained from the following address: Department of Veterans Affairs, P.O. Box 8079, Philadelphia, PA 19101.
Eligible veteran's disability must be service-related and incurred during a war or armed conflict AND meet one of the following three criteria;
The loss of one or more limbs
The loss of use of one or more limbs
Veterans Affairs certification of 60% physical disability of documentation that the veteran is receiving at least 60% compensation.
- May apply at any PGC Office or any participating County Treasurer office;
- Hunter can hold any general license (DV general license not required).
Sales for this antlerless deer license begin June 17, 2024, and remain open through the deer season.
Resident Cost: $6.97 (must be a bona fide resident of Pennsylvania)
Nonresident Cost: $26.97
Issued prior to the start of general antlerless deer license sales
Applicant must furnish proof of ownership to county treasurer in original deed/true copy
Only issued by participating county treasurer in the county in which the applicant owns fifty (50) or more contiguous (all adjoining) acres of land totally within the county of application
Leased land does not qualify
Only one license per qualifying deed, regardless of acreage over minimum required
Land used for Antlerless Deer license must be and shall remain open to public hunting and trapping during the entire license year (July 1 to June 30)
Qualifying acreage located within a county with two or more WMUs allows applicant to select the WMU he or she desires
Applicant may mail prior to antlerless deer drawing start date in a plain envelope marked "Landowner Antlerless Affidavit" with a self-addressed stamped envelope for license return

Antlerless licenses in these WMUs have historically sold out in the first round. To avoid overselling, antlerless licenses in these three WMUs are not guaranteed and are available on a first come, first served basis until sold out.

You can check your Antlerless Deer License Count (or Personal Limit) by logging into HuntFishPA and selecting the Antlerless Deer License Count button. All Antlerless Deer Licenses purchased, and antlerless deer harvested can be viewed there. An Antlerless Deer License count will be calculated by subtracting the total Antlerless Deer tags harvested from the total Active Antlerless Deer Licenses purchased.

No, you should have the Antlerless Deer tag when you are hunting. The tag will be delivered in the mail on HuntFishPA license paper if ordered online. The Antlerless Deer License and Tag are printed together on HuntFishPA license paper when purchased at an agent.
Yes, you can purchase a replacement for $6.97 at HuntFishPA or at any PGC issuing agent. Can be replaced from your HuntFishPA account purchase history.
- Landowner Antlerless Deer Licenses can only be replaced at a county treasurer office.
DV and Armed Forces Antlerless Deer Licenses can be replaced at HuntFishPA, PGC offices and participating county treasurer offices.
Customers are urged to check their Antlerless Deer License prior to leaving agent sales desk. If the error was detected within 6 hours of purchase, return the license to the issuing agent and they can void the license and reissue. If the error was detected after 6 hours, please complete the Antlerless Deer License Replacement Form and email it to pgclicdiv@pa.gov along with explanation of error. Forms will be evaluated and reason for error investigated by PGC. Reissued Antlerless Deer licenses will be reissued upon approval.
Yes, you can buy Antlerless Deer Licenses for a family member as long as you have their account information. You will not be able to purchase multiple family member's licenses in the same transaction. Each family member will be completed in different transactions. There is no ability in Huntfishpa to apply or order Antlerless Deer Licenses in a group. Each hunter must purchase their Antlerless Deer License separately. No, licenses cannot be transferred between licensed hunters. You may only transfer an antlerless tag from a licensed hunter to a mentored hunter under the age of 7. Mentored Hunters ages 7 and older may apply for and receive one antlerless deer license & tag. Licensed junior hunters can apply for antlerless licenses and are subject to the same personal license limits as adult license holders.
