PennDOT District 8-0 is currently developing preliminary engineering for the SR 0343, Section 006 (N. 7th St.) Resurfacing and Intersection Improvement Project located in the City of Lebanon, North Lebanon Township, and Swatara Township Lebanon County.
Mill and overlay work begins north of Reinoehl Street in the City of Lebanon for about 80 feet before crossing into North Lebanon Township. Within North Lebanon Township, the work continues approximately 2.18 miles until the border of Swatara Township near the intersection with Heffelfinger Road. The work continues for about 350 feet into Swatara Township to the end of project.
The project involves safety improvements at the intersection of Kimmerlings Road (T-805) and Kochenderfer Road (T-487). Work is anticipated to include the construction of a new roundabout at the, currently side street stop controlled, intersection of SR 0343 and T805/T487. The work will also include drainage improvements and updated signing and pavement markings. The proposed SR 0343 typical section will be comprised of 11-foot travel lanes and existing shoulders with a minimum width of 3 feet. The proposed typical section the roundabout which includes a 45’ central island, 15’ truck apron, and 20’ travel lane with a curbed gutter.
Traffic will be maintained on SR 0343 during construction. Detours for T805/T487 using local collector roadways will be implemented during specific stages of construction. Temporary Construction Easements and Right-of-Way acquisition are anticipated at this time. PennDOT will coordinate directly with impacted property owners. Utilities will be impacted by construction and relocations are being coordinated with facility owners.
The project is currently in preliminary design and construction work is currently anticipated to take place in the 2027 construction season subject to all approvals, environmental clearances, and funding availability.
The plans display will be held online only. A digital version of the information will be available to view online until May 16, 2025.
