Last Updated: September 2025

This project involves the replacement of a two-lane bridge carrying SR 0419 over Tributary to Mill Creek in Tulpehocken Township, Berks County.

The existing bridge was constructed in 1926 and is approaching the end of its effective useful life. The proposed bridge will be constructed at the location of the existing bridge and have two 11-foot lanes and two 5-foot shoulders. The roadway and shoulder width, as well as the cross slopes will vary on the approach roadway due to tying into existing features.

A detour is proposed for the construction of SR 419. This is based on the narrow width of the existing bridge and the inability to do half-width construction. The detour is 17 miles in length and uses all State roads.
