The project includes the bridge rehabilitation of T-963 (Lausch Road) over Route 222 in East Cocalico Township, Lancaster County. The purpose of this project is to provide a continued safe and efficient crossing on Lausch Road over Route 222.

Within the project area, T-963 (Lausch Road) is a two-lane roadway located in a predominately wooded and open farmland setting on rolling terrain and is classified as a Urban Local roadway. The land surrounding the roadway is predominantly wooded areas with agricultural fields farther from the bridge. Lausch Road within the project limits has a posted speed limit of 35 miles per hour and an average daily traffic volume of approximately 1,000 vehicles per day.

The existing structure was built in 1972 and is a four-span steel I-Beam bridge supported on concrete stub abutments and multi-column pier bents. The structure length is 324 feet and has a curb-to-curb width of 42 feet.

The project involves superstructure rehabilitation including painting of the existing steel superstructure and fabricated structural steel repairs of the existing beams. The horizontal and vertical geometries will not be changed.

T-963 (Lausch Road) and Route 222 will not be detoured during construction. Construction is anticipated to be accomplished using staged temporary traffic control for both T-963 (Lausch Road) and Route 222.

The project is currently in design, and construction is expected to take approximately 4 months at this site.  The exact construction timeline is not currently known, but construction is currently anticipated to begin in the Fall of 2026 or Spring of 2027.

The purpose of the plans display is to introduce the project and solicit public input, questions, or concerns regarding the project.
