This is a project to give motorists a smoother ride on almost 3 miles of Route 518 in the City of Sharon, Sharpsville Borough, and the City of Hermitage in Mercer County.
The project included paving of 2.7 miles of roadway from Thornton Street in City of Sharon to Pierce Bluffs Drive in City of Hermitage. Work will also include milling, ADA-compliant curb ramps updates, guide rail improvements, and line painting.
Construction began June 2025 and is expected to be completed this year.
The contractor is Kirilia Contractors, Inc. of Brookfield, Ohio The contract cost is $2,091,690, which is to be paid with 80 percent federal funds and 20 percent state funds.
Traffic Impacts
Portions of the work will require pedestrian detours.
No detours are expected for motorized traffic, but drivers may encounter lane restrictions and traffic controlled by flaggers. Access to businesses will be maintained throughout the project.
