This is a multimodal project along Route 518 (East State Street) in the City of Sharon, Mercer County.
Improvements will be made on East State Street from North Sharpsville Avenue to North Oakland Avenue, as well as a small portion of Pine Street. The project is being funded through a federal Surface Transportation Urban Grant awarded to the City of Sharon in 2022.
The proposed pedestrian improvements will include replacement of existing curb and sidewalk, updating the curb ramps to be ADA compliant, and planting of appropriate trees and landscaping. The project also includes the installation of additional drainage infrastructure on both sides of the roadway to control flooding during rain events.
Work is expected to take place during the 2024 and 2025 construction seasons.
Traffic Impacts
Portions of the work will require pedestrian detours.
No detours are expected for motorized traffic, but drivers may encounter lane restrictions and traffic controlled by flaggers. Access to businesses will be maintained throughout the project.
