Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced work on a highway restoration project along Route 22/322 in Fermanagh Township, Juniata County, will get underway Wednesday, April 2. This project will improve the ride quality and extend the service life of nearly seven miles of roadway between the Arch Rock and Mifflintown exits.
On Wednesday, the contractor will close one lane of Route 22/322 through the work zone on the eastbound and westbound sides. These closures will alternate between lanes while the contractor completes saw cutting in preparation to replace the existing concrete slabs. PennDOT urges drivers to build extra travel time into their schedules as it anticipates delays.
After it finishes saw cutting, the contractor will set up a long-term lane closure while milling and resurfacing the highway.
Overall work on the project milling, resurfacing, guide rail installation, pavement marking, and miscellaneous construction. Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc., of State College, PA, is the contractor on this $2.9 million project. PennDOT anticipates them wrapping up in late July, but all work is weather-dependent.
