The U.S. 202 Section 61S project will widen and improve 1.8 miles of U.S. 202 (Dekalb Pike) from south of Johnson Highway at the Norristown Borough/East Norriton Township dividing line to Township Line Road at the East Norriton Township/Whitpain Township dividing line.
PennDOT is reconstructing and widening U.S. 202 from two lanes to provide a four-lane cross-section consisting of two travel lanes northbound, a center turn lane, and one travel lane southbound. Five-foot bicycle lanes will be provided in both directions along the entire project area, along with new sidewalks and ADA Ramps. The project will construct a new precast concrete box culvert, two new sound walls, and a new bridge, as well as install new traffic signals, traffic cameras, and a dynamic message sign.
The project also involves major aerial and underground utility relocations and installations for PECO Electric, PECO Gas, Verizon, Comcast, PA American Water, and AQUA PA sanitary sewer, on Johnson Highway, Dekalb Pike, Germantown Pike, Dekalb Boulevard, and Township Line Road.
