This is a safety improvement project that includes shoulder widening, installation of edge-line rumble strips, and sight distance improvements along Franklin Road.  This is a four-year project which has a current completion date in early November 2027.  

2024: Overhead utility relocation work. Expect single lane flagging Monday through Saturday until late October. Work includes relocating overhead utilities, tree trimming to allow for utility work and installation of environmental controls.

​2025: Underground utility work includes relocation and installation of water and gas lines. Expect single lane flagging during this work. 

2026: Roadway work will begin including installing new drainage and widening of Franklin Road. Detours of Franklin Road expected in 2026.  Mars Road detour will be implemented in 2026.

2027: Work on Franklin Road to continue withdrainage, widening and paving. Detours of Franklin Road expected in 2027.  Work on Peters Road to include drainage and widening.

Project Updates

April 26, 2024: Single lane closures for tree trimming and the installation of environmental controls began on April 25 on Franklin Road (Route 3021) between Route 228 and Peters Road and will continue through June 3, 2024. The lane closures will take place between 9 AM - 3 PM weekdays.  During these single lane closures, one lane of traffic will be maintained with flagging operations.
