This is a proposed project to replace the bridge that carries Service Avenue over Pine Run in the City of Sharon, Mercer County.
The bridge is located on Service Avenue between the intersection with the Memorial Boulevard and the intersection with East Connelly Boulevard (Route 62).
The project will include replacing the existing bridge with a concrete box culvert. Work will also include paving on each side of the bridge and on Memorial Boulevard as well as utility and guiderail updates.
Work is expected to occur during the 2026 construction season.
The existing concrete bridge was built in 1951. It is classified as poor condition and is posted with a 13-ton weight limit. Approximately 1,650 vehicles a day use the bridge, on average.
Proposed Traffic Impacts
A detour will be required during construction and is expected to be in place for approximately four months. The proposed 1.5-mile detour route will be posted using Service Avenue, Plum Street, Memorial Boulevard, Leslie Street, Route 518 (Stambaugh Avenue) and Route 62 (East Connelly Boulevard).
