Repairs to Bridge on Route 58 in Grove City to Start Next Month

A $1.9 million project to repair the bridge that carries Route 58 over Wolf Creek in Grove City, Mercer County is scheduled to start date May 12, 2025.

The bridge is located on Route 58 between the intersection with Route 173 and the intersection with Greenwood Drive near the main entrance to Grove City College.

Work will include removal and replacement of the upper portion of the bridge, also known as the superstructure. The project includes repairs to the abutments and pier, new concrete bridge beams, a new concrete deck and barrier, paving, updated guiderail, and line painting.

Construction is expected to begin May 12, 2025, weather permitting, and is expected to be completed by late October 2025.

The project will require a detour, which will be posted using Route 208, Route 8, and Route 58. It is expected to be in place for 15 weeks, approximately August 23, 2025.

The existing concrete spread-box beam bridge was built in 1967. It is classified as poor condition. Approximately 10,600 vehicles a day use the bridge, on average.

The contractor is Plum Contracting, Inc., of Greensburg, PA. The contract cost is $1,867,347, which is to be paid entirely with state funds.
