Uniontown, PA—Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing several-week closures of Hoods Mill Road in Cook Township and Reed Avenue in the City of Monessen, Westmoreland County.
Hoods Mill Road over Fourmile Run, between Route 130 and Route 2033 (Bethel Church Road) in Cook Township, is closed. A detour is in place and anticipated through early April using:
- Route 130
- Route 711 (Stahlstown Ligonier Road)
- Route 2031/2033 (Bethel Church Road)
Reed Avenue over Third Street, between Rostraver Street and Fourth Street, in the City of Monessen, is scheduled to close beginning Monday, March 24, and last through mid-April. A detour will be in place using:
- First Street
- Route 906 (southbound Donner Avenue/northbound Schoonmaker Avenue)
- 10th Street
Crews from Gulisek Construction will conduct bridge preservation work at both locations. All work depends on weather and operations.
The Hills Mills Road structure will see clearing and grubbing, concrete surface coating, strip seals, crack sealing, fixing rail elements, and flushing bridge seats.
The Reed Avenue structure will undergo zone painting, hydro demolition, deck repairs, new later overlay, clearing and grubbing, fence repairs, structure repairs, and strip seal replacements.
This is part of a larger $1.6 million infrastructure investment project to preserve six local bridges in Greene, Washington, and Westmoreland counties. The work consists of concrete repairs, crack sealing, protective coating application, expansion joint replacement, and waterproofing.
