Superload Move on Thursday in Union, Snyder, and Northumberland Counties

Montoursville, PA – A superload is scheduled to be moved during the overnight hours on Thursday, February 6, 2025, in Union, Snyder, and Northumberland counties.

The superload will carry a transformer from Winfield, Union County to the generation station located on Old Trail Road (Route 1023) in Monroe Township, Snyder County.

The load is classified as a superload due to its weight and dimensions. It weighs 769,000 pounds, is nearly 130 feet long (including carrier), 13 feet wide and 19 feet 9 inches high.

The 7.5-mile trip is scheduled to begin at 10:00 PM.

The travel route will include Route 15 south, the superload will then cross over into the northbound lane to travel under the Route 147 overpass and return to the southbound lane, Route 11 south, Eleventh Avenue (Route 1019), and Old Trail Road in Shamokin Dam Borough, Snyder County.

To avoid the Routes 147/61 overpass, the load will travel onto the Routes 11/15 northbound exit ramp to Route 147/61, cross the median where the load will travel onto the Routes 11/15 northbound exit ramp onto Routes 147/61, cross the median, then travel onto the Routes 147/61 exit ramp to Route 11 northbound.

Motorists should expect slow or stopped traffic and delays due to the movement of the large load.
