King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that the Knox Covered Bridge over Valley Creek has been closed due to tree damage in Valley Forge National Historical Park, Tredyffrin Township, Chester County.
Motorist are advised of the following travel restriction:
- Yellow Springs Road is currently closed between Route 252 (Valley Creek Road) and Library Lane. During the closure, motorists will be directed to use the posted detour.
Knox Covered Bridge (Yellow Springs Road) will remain closed as highway engineers determine the extent of the damage and develop a plan to repair the bridge.
Built in 1865, the covered steel stringer bridge is 55-feet-long, 12-feet-wide, and carries approximately 1,604 vehicles per day.
