King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that utility construction will occur next week on Route 73 (Skippack Pike) under a project to improve the safety of intersections along the Route 73 (Skippack Pike) corridor in Whitpain and Whitemarsh townships, Montgomery County.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:
- Monday, April 17, through Friday, May 5, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a weekday lane closure is scheduled on Route 73 (Skippack Pike) in both direction between Wentz Road and Butler Pike in Whitpain Township.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
Under this $847,074 safety improvement project, PennDOT's contractor will improve several intersections by replacing and installing new traffic signals, signal supports and related equipment; replacing signage; constructing ADA curb ramps; and restoring pavement markings.
The Route 73 (Skippack Pike) intersections included in this project are at Wentz Road/Parkwood Road, Cathcart Road, Union Meeting Road, Penllyn Blue Bell Pike, Walton Road, Lewis Lane, Narcissa Road/Prophecy Creek Park, and Butler Pike.
Armour & Sons Electric, Inc., of Langhorne, PA, is the general contractor on this project, which is financed with 100% federal funds. Work on the entire project is expected to finish in fall 2024.
