Closures for Milling Tonight on SB Route 222 Ramps at Route 772 (Brownstown/Rothsville) Exit in Lancaster County

Ramps will be closed for several hours after midnight; Work is part of pavement preservation project

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that ramp closures are planned for tonight on a 3.3-mile pavement preservation project on Route 222 in Manheim, Warwick, and West Earl townships, Lancaster County.

Weather permitting, the southbound Route 222 ramps at the Route 772 (Brownstown/Rothsville) Exit will be closed for several hours after midnight tonight so the ramps can be milled.

This includes the ramp from southbound Route 222 to Route 772, and the Route 772 ramp to southbound Route 222.

To access the Route 772 Exit, southbound Route 222 travelers should continue south to the Route 272 (Oregon Pike) Exit, take southbound Route 272 to Jake Landis Road, turn left onto Jake Landis Road, left onto Pinetown Road, then take Pinetown Road north to the ramp to northbound Route 222 and the Route 772 Exit.

To access southbound Route 222, Route 772 travelers should take northbound Route 222 to the Route 322 (Ephrata) Exit, then return south on Route 222.

This work is part of a project consisting of bituminous resurfacing, full-width milling, base repair, concrete patching, guide rail updates, line painting, and sign updates on northbound and southbound Route 222 from the Bushong Road overhead bridge to the Pool Road overhead bridge.

The northbound Route 222 roadway work was completed last year. However, there will be weekend lane closures this year on northbound Route 222 for bridge work.

Work in the southbound direction, including the southbound ramps at the interchange, is expected to be completed this year.

The contractor will begin with milling in the southbound lanes. This will require nighttime lane restrictions.

There will be nighttime lane restrictions in the southbound lanes and periodic overnight closures of the southbound Route 222 ramps at the Route 772 (Brownstown/Rothsville) Interchange. Updates will be issued prior to any ramp closures.

Motorists should be alert and drive with caution through the work zone.

New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company, Inc., of New Enterprise, PA, is the contractor on this $8,486,591 project.

All work is expected to be completed October 20, 2025.
